| ...stigmatize promiscuity, in cultures which may even institutionalize polygyny[1], or even male promiscuity, through traditional, indigenous religions!
Sorry, but if you can't see past what seem to be "white Christian American" assumptions[2], you really have no hope of dealing--on any meaningful level--with anyone who isn't one, because your "natural" assumptions will be completely alien to them!
Even were this not the case, typical American behavior would do little better: our common practice of "serial monogamy" is still too vulnerable, in the presence of a high background infection rate.

- And before you assume I'm misspelling: polygyny is polygamy practiced such that a single husband has multiple wives; whereas polyandry is polygamy practiced such that a single wife has multiple husbands. (Yes, polyandry is actually quite common, particularly in matriarchal, matrilineal cultures.)
Normally, I wouldn't even bother explaining this, but I'm responding to someone who gives the impression of being ignorant and proud of it!
- Which I recognize easily, as one who will claim the latter two adjectives, for himself. The first one, I won't: "human" is the only "race" I recognize (let the Census Bureau challenge me, any time); and the "white" assumptions never did suit me.
