Lawmen Seize Maker of Tape of Boy's Arrest
LOS ANGELES, July 11 — The bystander who videotaped a violent arrest by the police in Inglewood was arrested today on outstanding warrants, including petty theft.
The bystander, Mitch Crooks, 27, was seized outside a CNN studio, where he was scheduled to be interviewed.
Mr. Crooks was at a motel in Inglewood on Saturday when he taped officers as they arrested Donovan Jackson, 16, at a service station across the street. The tape shows a handcuffed Mr. Jackson, who is black, being hoisted to his feet by a white Inglewood officer, Jeremy Morse, slammed onto the rear of a patrol car and slugged by the officer.
