Fortunately, the wording their was much more indirect - as it doesn't say "our God" or "our Creator", and it specifically never mentions Jesus.
However, religious references in the Constitution would be much harder to accept. Sure, it has historical value, but as a living document it should reflect the concepts that make this country one of the best. That we are free to worship whomever we choose or not at all. That we let men rule on Earth and God takes what he wants afterwards. That everybody should have the same rights as everybody else.
With any religious dogma embedded, we already promote a lessening of freedom. |
