ethnic minorites that don't fit the definition. Either wait for Southern Americans to slip in under the wire before rejecting minority status, or reject the host of so-called "ethnic minorities" that are mucking up the U.S. political system on a daily basis.

That's been the axe I grind; either show equal consideration for *every* stereotype, or show equal lack thereof.

Where are all the stereotypical insults directed at other definable groups of people? They aren't happening. And they don't flow along in the course of a conversation. Because it's become okay to look down on (let's face it) poor white southerners, where the same kind of stereotypical insults are not only objected to, they don't *occur* to people in the course of casual conversation. Sound familiar? How bout the following conversation in a white-only country club in 1954 as an example of what I'm trying to point out?
"Hey, you know, you should get yourself a jew accountant. That hebe I hired works wonders with the books, and knows where his money comes from, if you know what I mean. Hell, he's more useful than my Jap gardner!"

That's what your redneck comments sound like to me.
