It is amazing the number of people who accept that there is no god with no real understanding or reason. There are a large number of people who have never really examined their core beliefs, and hold them only because their family or their friends do. In fact, I would say that the vast majority of people have never considered that they may be wrong, or done an iota of research in the beliefs they do not accept. This is idiotic, since this issue is the most life altering beleif they have. In my opinion, far more atheists (today in the US at least) have not thought through their faith than those of other beliefs. Whether this is due to "brainwashing" or pure mental laziness I don't know, but I think people need to give a little more thought to their fundamental views of the world, and not just take them as granted.
