Examine your prejudices. Think about each and write down your immediate visualizations of the people involved. Situations: 1. You are woken up by someone breaking into your home in the middle of the night. 2. You spot a really bad driver. 3. You round a corner and see a number of police with some suspects pressed against a wall. 4. You accidentally touch a strangers hand in the darkness of a movie theatre. 5. You are working on a helpdesk and a user is having a lot of trouble understanding basic computer concepts. 6. You need to ask directions from janitorial staff in a unfamiliar building. 7. You are woken up early Sunday morning by a knock on your door. 8. You arrive for a job interview. 9. You are stopped by police while driving. 10. A woman is standing on a street corner in a bad neighbourhood. Questions: 1. What sex are they? What colour is their skin? 2. What is their age? 3. How many police? What colour are they? How many suspects? What colour are they? 4. Smooth or Wrinkled? Man or Woman? Rings? Moist or Dry? Soft or Firm? 5. What is their age? 6. What accent do they speak in to you? 7. What is the first thing they say? 8. Is the interviewer the same skin colour as you? How are they dressed? 9. What race is the officer? Different than yours? Does he have his gun drawn? 10. How is she dressed? What is she waiting for?
