If it's true that a god exists who created and manages life on earth, it is redundant to state that our nation is "under him" because _every_ nation would be. This is also a sin of pride, if you believe in sin.
If it's true that NO god exists, then it's merely a lie.
In any event, it presupposes the existence of a god, and that is exclusionary.
And in what official US government document must I find the words "God Bless America"? State governments may do as they wish. Private interests may be as sinfully prideful as they wish. But the US government MUST REMAIN NEUTRAL, as they were doing quite successfully with the Pledge until it was bastardized. |
