IMHO, niether parent appears to have the childs best interest at heart in this case. They have pushed a personal fued into the national spotlight irreguardless to how it effect the child.

On the brainwashing issue. I do not see your example as brainwashing. To me, it is a parent exercising thier control over their offspring. That is not brainwashing. Brainwashing envolves controlling of exturnal stimulus, sleep, activity and food intake with the goal of changing a persons personality.
