I seem to remember something silly about outlawing "deep linking" or some other such thing. I think Disney was one of the ones complaining. Something about people linking to the .mov file of the movie trailer that made the big companies mad because they bypassed all the HTML pages with code to pop-up adverts until your machine choked.

Anyone have any facts to go with my memories? I Googled "deep linking" and found this old article, but nothing more recent.

Ironically, I wonder if that link to the "deep linking" article is considered a deep link...
