New wrench thrown in the wheel by crash_2006-11-19 12:55:59
  Here's the problem by beez 2002-07-12 06:31:26
Most children are "religious" at such a young age. They haven't matured enough to form their own opinions/beliefs. When I was 8 I was fairly strictly a Presbyterian. Since then I have read books detailing the progression of religion. I found the reduction in the number of gods over time especially interesting and informative. I am now an atheist.

And her chosen religion is irrelevant. The point is still the same - why should we force all children to name a specificly Christian/Jewish God, when in some areas other dieties are predominant? If this case get struck down because the girl is Christian (and it may be), I sincerely hope some Muslim/Hindu/Pagan/atheist takes up the case.

I personally stopped reciting that one line of the pledge years ago, and have long wondered how it was permitted.
