That retail is terrible and IT has plenty of openings for fresh meat- err... 1st level support. I know at many of the companies I've contracted for they are always looking for 1st level people since it's got a moderately high turnover / promotion rate. Either you get sick of dealing with people and turn into a recluse for a while or you get promoted up the line and either way they have to fill that opening.

I've never personally worked retail, but I've worked with retail companies before and heard the horror stories from friends and co-workers...

The down side to working IT, especially as a contractor is usually that the boss still doens't have a clue.
