carry on them contingencies of crimes of passion? Sure, they can go for temporary insanity pleas... Why then should an officer who made one hell of a bad mistake be considered any less subject to the same blessing provided by law?

I'll agree that he and the others should be held accountable, but I will NOT agree that an anger-derived horrid judgement call makes someone scum. Let the internal affairs and criminal justice system decide their ultimate fate, but as one who has found himself at the hot end of that anger I can't condemn the man for showing a momentary lapse into humanity.
