Dead LInux Box... by imrambi 2002-07-09 21:12:27
I am running a RH 7.2 box (command line only). Yesterday a storm made it reboot. It was working fine today, just until a few minutes ago. My streaming media (Ogg Vorbis files) stopped. I knew it was the server. No response from the server from its keyboard. Noting appearing on a monitor. Reboot only gave a post. Finally it started to boot, but it stops at uncompressing Linux. I tried a rescue, but that only has given me a "invalid compressed format (err=) --System halted" Is there anyway that I can fix this without loosing my 5.5 gigs of data. A lot of it is programs I use and things that I don't have room on dimwit for. Any help would be appreciated. I need to get the server running again if at all possible without a reinstall.
