That's actually a pretty tough call. Joe's not too awfully bright, either. Shrub might actually be almost that sharp. ;)

I agree, the man is about as bright as a small appliance bulb.

Take this latest news flash about doubling prison terms for white collar crime. Sure, lock the guys up for 4 years instead of 2 years. They still have millions when they get out, and in the meantime, we put violent criminals on the street to make room for them. Pff.

I say charge the guys three times the estimated amount of money they made, and don't allow bankruptcy to allow them an out. If they don't have sufficient funds to cover it, garnish their wages to the tune of 50% of their gross income each year until paid. Revoke their ability to be in positions similar to the ones in which they abused trust or committed crimes.
Take their property and sell it and leave them 'modest living standard' housing. (See your local welfare or housing authority for a definition of that term.)
Do the same with their personal property. (Jaguars, big screens, etc.)
Make sure any retirement accounts are cashed out to pay the bill.

See how these guys like living in a two bedroom bungalow with a 19" tv, eating hamburger helper for the rest of their lives. ;)

Of course, Shrub doesn't know what it's like to live in middle income America anyways, so maybe he could be excused for not thinking about this as an option. It's hard to grasp the concept when your idea of poverty includes driving your own Mercedes, and not having your own private jet.
