A right is that which is just, morally good, legal, proper, or fitting.
Who decides what is just, or morally good? Legal, fit, and proper are widely variable depending on the local government/society.
Rights are privileges granted to the individual by the society in which they live. They are not inviolable, and society can rescind them at will, though doing so on a general basis would likely cause a rebellion, and others may infringe on them at risk of societal retribution. |
