I know that, in Q2 at least, there's a separate 3DFx OpenGL video selection, which to me meant that it's different than the Default OpenGL option. And even if they're the same, it worked great in 98SE which my computer dual-boots to. The hardware was the same, but only the OS had changed - and performance went through the floor, if it performed at all.
