| You could create a CD that has NT4's base install with all the SP6 files copied over their corresponding entries on the original CD, but that won't set the SP level in Windows to 6. It's really better to install it the normal way and then update to 6. If a format and reinstall haven't helped, then you might consider looking into possible driver issues. First, make sure the motherboard's drivers (if any) are loaded, and then look at the NIC drivers and finally the video card drivers. But since it's exhibiting the same problems as before, I'd be willing to bet that it's a hardware issue. When it BSODs again, as I'm sure it will, look at the message itself. Believe it or not, there are usually clues tucked away in the STOP screen, if not outright telling you what the culprit is. With it happening during setup, it's probably the HD controller or the HD itself. Make sure it's firmly seated and replace the bus cables. If not that, try it with a different hard drive and see if you get the same problems. It being a server, the controllers are likely located on a card. Move the card to another slot to rule out a problem there. If, after all that, you're still having the same problems, the motherboard's surely your foe. |
