here. This is one of the best sites for dealing with v.90/v.92 modem issues I've run into. Check through the specific information for your modem to determine whether a firmware upgrade might be needed (99.9% of all modems, when they come out of the box, are in need of a firmware upgrade... this is in my experience). My first step any time I purchase a modem is to immediately update the firmware.

You may have to do a v.34 lock, but more likely you may need to force v.90 instead of the cross-check between v.92 and v.90 because they code on the RAS server you are dialing into may not handle the switch negotiation well.
