Of course, exactly how you force it into V.34 mode depends on the modem command set. Hopefully your modem came with a command reference. If not, you can probably find one on USR's web site. Look for the AT command to set the modem to V.34 connection speeds (31200 bps). I had to do this all the time when I worked for an ISP.
