S7 (Default=60) Sets number of seconds modem waits for a carrier. May be increased as needed, for example to allow modem time to establish an international connection. This may be simple setting somewhere in the modem's properties in Windows too. I'd start with that, otherwise you may need to modify it in the initialization screen as I mentioned before. I think most init strings are just AT&F1^M now, so it would be as simple as making it AT&F1s7=90^M. Or I could be totally steering you in the wrong direction. :)
