that can be set for handshaking. It may just take the two modems longer to handshake since they start at the highest possible speed and negotiate down. I think the default is 60 seconds. If the setting isn't available in any of the windows, I am pretty sure it's also in one of the S (ATSx=xx) registers - I'd have to look it up though. That could be set as part of the modem's initialization string.

If all else fails, I'll see if I can help you find the setting, though it may be somewhere in your modem's documentation.

My modem skills are a bit rusty - it's been a while since I've had to deal with that. Is there anyone else that can back me up on this? :)
