it might be a modem/server incompatibility. I think that same problems came up when the v.90 standard was introduced. Check to see if the modem is a v.90 flex model and then call your ISP to make sure that the dialup number is a v.90/flex dialup. Either way, see if there is an alternate number to call your ISP at.
