when i (extremely briefly) taught courses at a U... (i won't name it - wouldn't want its flagging credibility knocked down another peg or two for having hired me :-) The only perk that i took full advantage of was ogling a few of the sales reps that the academic publishers sent around - "bibliography" stirs up some pleasant memories. :-) The situation around here is pretty offensive. Faculty gets a nice raise. Administration then jacks up the tuition for the PAYING students to cover the raise. Meanwhile, A faculty member's spouse and children pay NO tuition. Life is so hard at a U that doesn't require its faculty to publish or perish. :P</rant>
