But, from a purely "wishful thinking" point of view, it would be nice - AND it would make a _lot_ more sense.

Originally, animals are driven by reactions and stimuli and whatever genetic programming they may have.

The more complex the animal, the more complex the programming, including self-modifying code. Mostly this is done without the animal's knowledge.

At our level, the sheer number of factors causes the resulting actions to be almost random in appearance, but an omnipotent being could follow the logic.

And words like "should be" and "murderer" are not really germaine. The first is generally an illogical valuation, unless a specific goal is sought. The second is merely semantics - it has no effect on whether our behavior is logical or not, it is simply a label applied to one who commits a certain action.
