ok question to Win2K and WinXP users by Arienadean2002-07-01 17:02:14
  I know I'm not a 2k or XP user... by DaNutBall 2002-07-01 17:53:56
  • If you want compatability XP is the better of the two. 2k is mostly if not all based on NT alone and has no 9x code. Because of this there's incompatabilities. XP fixed this and merged all the forks of Windoze.
  • XP makes you register; 2000 may be harder to get. Pick your poison.
  • XP does allow for a 9x/NT/2000 interface instead of the Fisher-Price interface, just like 95 allowed for a 3.1 interface. Don't expect it to last.
  • I have seen DivX movies (legitimate or not doesn't matter) play upside down on XP's version of WMP. Poor Pete... I was dying laughing when I saw it with my own eyes! Now Pete is running 2000 and Linux.
If I picked one for you, I couldn't -- and probably wouldn't as I would throw the latest version of Mandrake in your shopping bin. :-P So I'll let you decide what to take.
