I've been jealous of Mac OS X's very cool graphics for a while now. I no longer am ;-). KDE3 runs circles around OS X for GUI "coolness" (With Mosfet's High Performance Liquid installed, it looks seriously cool. Plus all the other options...). While I do have my small grudges, on a whole, I've been very pleased with the system. Haven't had a chance to use it intensly for an extended period of time, but it seems to run quite nicely. The Kicker crashes sometimes on my system (FreeBSD), but I haven't upgraded to KDE 3.0.1 (still using the second set of 3.0 packages). I'm hoping that fixes it. Also, there's a little Konquerer bug rendering the UF page, but I'm also hoping 3.0.1 fixes that (as soon as I get time for the download).
So, all in all, I've been quite impressed with KDE3 (1 & 2 never really impressed me, GNOME always seemed to have a better feel. But 3 fixed that.). |
