...fatty tissue tumor on my leg.
Had one on my back done last year. Easy opp - no internals, just under the dermis (slice, scoop, sew). The leg one will be interesting as I will be able to look daown and see what they are doing (if I'm game, think not!). The back one was out of my sight, thugh I could feel the warm trickle of blood running down my side. The tumor itself was a festy-looking thing - I had to take it down to path myself (with my wife) once I was sewn up.
Out-patient, no appointment necessary, ~500RMB, sweet (I'm sure the Medicare Gap is more than that in Aust. and the waiting list is many months). The hospitals here are much like the public system in SE Australia - underfunded and a bit shabby, but clean and competently staffed.
Helps that my wife is an ex-nurse and can dress the wounds and give the anti-biotic injections needed in the two weeks after the op.
I'm actually hyper-sensitive to touch (read rediculously tickleish) and get the giggles when people jab needles into me. The nurses at the blood bank in Aust. used to think I was weird (well they do have a point) but in a nice sort of way. |
