hmm so in chinese by Arienadean 2002-06-25 01:41:20
you know how they abbrievate names to "a-<whatever second name is>" .... what would yours be? would it be "A-Sha" or "A-Gu" or hmm "A-Sha-Gu"? My daughters chinese name is E-Ling which becomes "a-ling" and her brothers is Ge Ho which becomes "a-ho"... They called me Soo Sai in chinese. But some of the family names were funning in english. One of the kids cousins or something was Wai Ling (sounds like wailing) and another was a-f**k... several uncles were a-wing. The kids dad though was a-gai (tai gai). Though apprently my name "susan" which to then sounds like soo san is "stupid" or something.<shrug> My sons name probably sounds funny as its Stephen which sounds like Stay fan(fan being a noodle soup). :)

My actual name though means Noble lily having a worthy edge. My daughters I forget the full translation of but Alyssa means joy.(her first and middle names are Alyssa Mary Elizabeth). My sons name I forget the meaning of but his first and middle names are Stephen John Walter. The middle names in both kids are in honour of relatives. My daughter took her great grandma's name for her middle name. My daughter was a premie and my grandma found she bore her name and was ok right before that grandma died of an aneurism. With my sons name his chinese grandfather doesn't have an official english name but everyone calls him John. My fathers name as James Walter but everyone called him Wally(though my nana called him Jamie when he was little in the UK). Anyways so that is where my son got his middle names is from both grandpas. With my daughters first name I just liked the sound of it and meaning but my exhusband had a thing for Alyssa Milano. With my sons first name my ex insisted on it(I wanted Evan actually and one or two others). I compromised but realizing my son might run into the boring millions of guys named steven thing(like how I did with my first name) I used the scottish spelling.(my exhusband didn't like that so I said it was that or I'd stick "primo" on his birth cert... <evil laugh>).

As for our pets names. Our prior cat Salem was fluffy and blue eyed... also part siamese. It looked black though and was named Salem after the "Sabrina the Teenage witch" cat. My daughter loved the show and had just started cancer treatment. Unfortunately the cat died a year ago on my daughters birthday. As for the new cat Angel... Well my daughter really likes the show "Touched by an Angel" as well Salem is an Angel and so is the cat she knew as a toddler(my other cat Boots). Angel looks like Boots(only boots was male, bigger and had no tail). Angel oddly enough has some traits both like Boots and alot like Salem which aren't just regular cat things.(our cats sing for one, play fetch, etc)
