lived in Libya for 3 years, doing Christian missionary work(!). Among his experiences was getting on board a commercial jet airliner in the region, and having the engine actually fall clean off the wing of the plane onto the tarmac when they satrted it (ie before they satrted to taxi into position for takeoff). Everyone just calmly got off the plane and onto another plane belonging to the same airline.
