I had to go to Chicago for some training. I was to spend a week at the Xerox training center there.
When I got to the airport, The lady behind the counter told me that I had a choice. Either I wait for my plane (delayed 2 hours in Atlanta) or I could take a charter bus to Cincinatti to catch my connection. I took the bus because the later flights from cincy were stand-by only. :( I got to Cincy with about 5 minutes to check in and get to the plane (obviously before 9/11). Since I was going to be staying in a hotel two blocks from "everything" I didn't bother renting a car. The taxi ride was to a part of town where there is a surcharge because of the distance, I found out later it is actually cheaper to hire a limo!
The training center was, as advertised, about two blocks (country blocks) from the hotel. The problem was the closest food that stayed open later that the training was about ten blocks away. Now I don't mind walking, but that got old fast. So I rented a car ($$$$$). Since I didn't pick it up at the airport there was a surcharge on it if I dropped it there. grrrr.
Any way I finished the training and wanted to go home early. The flight went from Chicago, to Atlanta, to Louisville. Yes this meant I flew OVER my final destination on the way. :) When I got on the, very full, plane in Atlanta, my seat mates and I found that our seat was attached to the plane by one bolt! All three of us in the seats just kept quiet ( they had a bad trip too). When we landed and I was finally home I told the lady at the counter about the seat. I don't think I have ever seen the blood drain from someones face before. :O
By the way Crash with a name like that I would expect them to flag you as trouble on a flight. :D |
