Anyway, I wasn't aware of that little fee added to CD-Rs and CD-RWs (I live near Toronto), but I suppose it makes sense in a twisted way. Personally, I think that it's idiotic what the RIAA is doing, both to the music industry and the webcasting stations. I mean, really...they're getting free publicity from the webcasting stations and filesharers, and they toss it out the window for a few more immediate bucks. *sigh* Even first year economics should teach you that.

(rant)
As for the whole "Artists' share" thing, I know one thing...the RIAA blows EVERYTHING out of proportion, including how much the artists gain. Eminem's not that good (open to debate, I guess). N'Sync probably doesn't make more than $1,000 from any CD released. "Hero", despite the fact that it's an excellent song, does NOT NEED TO BE PLAYED 100,000 TIMES IN ONE DAY! (/rant)

I suppose I'm just biased. But...try replacing Bill Gates' head on that "NT Possession" episode of Userfriendly with the CEO of the RIAA. See what you get.
