ahh the thing we had by Arienadean 2002-06-23 02:12:07
looked like a little old digital alarm clock. Frankly it didn't look much smarter though it was. Apprently it sent a signal through the wall outlets and the special plugins that you'd plug between the appliance and outlet would take the signal and turn on or off the appliance at the specified times.

LOL...

Well the tech that does exist that I actually do like is the hardwood, etc floors that you can wake up and they are heated on a cold morning. Though if that went wacky that would be one hot floor. Here you can get houses ready for high speed access and a pc control system for lighting, heat, etc. My house isn't that way its a fairly old house for this area(around 60 yrs old) so its a do it yourself wiring. Usually my roommate gets an idea... dangerous to have a ham radio op/hobbist electronics dude with ideas, coax, soldering iron, and lots of wired and bits about... He just stripped an old scope today and who knows what he'll make with that.(though I thought of grabbing some transistors, wires etc that he had lying around and making jewlery)
