For your question about MP division: Knuth, volume 2, section 4.3.1. I was about to also suggest looking at the GNU MP library, but then I remembered you're using VB. :)

And, although you said you are not so much concerned with primality algorithms, check out Knuth, volume 2, section 4.5.4. There's a probabilistic primality algorithm in there that threw me for a huge loop when I first read about it. Then I implemented it for a class, and found that it works quite well.
