yes, it has to do with the color, and since i wasn't there to say "WRONG", we accept your answer

Your answer however, is actually wrong.
FYI:
PAL (phase alternating lines) simply rotates the Phase of the TV signal by 180° between two lines.

background:
TV color is encoded in the phase difference of the carrrier wave compared to a unmodified carrier.
However, most transmission errors over air occurs 'cuz the air changes the phase of radio signals undpredictable, thus colors will jump if the atmosphere conditions change (NTSC = never the same color)

Since pal changes the phase of the signal by 180° every line, an error in one line (eg 23°), will be corrected by the next line (-23°), thus eliminating the signal bearers (air, cable, etc.) influence.
