Nah, a little acknowledgement never hurt. Sometimes it's automatic, and it even sounds automatic. But that's still better than nothing. Of course, having been raised on a steady diet of please-and-thankyou, maybe I'm not the best judge. But if someone does something for you, even if they're supposed to, it seems rude not to offer some sort of gesture of appreciation.
