Adults have stem cells in their bone marrow by DaNutBall2006-11-19 12:55:59

of "embryonic" cells lurking in the human body. After development of the fetus they go into a dormant state. Such is the case with "blast" cells. Normally such cells to my knowledge are benign. But in some like my daughter they become tumours.(her's is metastatic melotic medulloblastoma t4... melotic means its in the cerebral spinal fluid and is a rarer form of medulloblastoma) I think other cells in the same catagory of blasts can also become tumours.

Bone marrow is tricky to mess with. I've had a cousin with leukemia and been around the cancer ward off and on for 4 yrs now. I've heard extracting marrow is very painful and replacing it can be tricky. Though if it works in the case of leukemia they may likely be cured.

I've mixed feelings on usage of such cells. On one had they might prove wonderously helpful for some. But messing with them in others makes me wonder what could happen. Knowing what my daughters own blast cells did inside her brain.(and yes they are considered embroynic stem cells re "blasts")
