As for the cousin, it sounds like he has reached the "self-important" stage, where he thinks he knows everything and believes the world revolved around him. at that age, kids often think that they're all grown up, while they haven't yet learned to play the part. In my humble opinion, the best reaction is to force him to behave, by denying him things he wants, etc ("No, you can't have the remote.", "If you don't give me back my pillow, you don't get dessert", "Apologize for being rude, and maybe I'll let you pick something after this show's over", etc.) If he complains that you're treating him like a child, tell him that you'll stop treating him like a child when he stops acting like one. (Sorry for the rant. Kids like that really piss me off, too)
Also, invest in a bullwhip. They make excellent LARTs. |
