did they give you any antibiotics immediately following the surgery? They gave my dad them and my roommates dad following knee replacements in both. The doc said they do it as a percaution because chance of getting a post surgery infection can be high. After the week of antibiotics though both did fine and had no further problems. Hopefully the antibiotics they give you know combined with the baths will clear it up.
As for 12 yr old boys there are ways to irritate them. With my 10 yr old son its calling him "Stephanie" instead of "Stephen" or saying he's got a girlfriend.(it drives him absolutely nuts much to the delight of my daughter and ok sometimes I do it when he's doing stuff to bug me) That or taking away the remote control does wonders.(what no sports, battle bots, blind date, etc? and the child goes wild with whine and begging) Of course you could befriend him and if a computer is around aim him at all sorts of sites that appeal to 12 yr old boys like babewatch fan sites, etc... that should keep him abused and quietly away from you for a bit.
I also know what its like to have to stay put and do not much. I was stuck on a backboard for a week once... another few times as a teen I was confined to bed by paralisis. Music helps and reading alot... only other thing is tv or relatives that like to play card games or board games. Well unless you have a laptop and its got games or hooked to the net. |
