we are a mixed environment: Unix (HP and Solaris), NT, and IBM Mainframe; and the powers that be want all this one NT. To do things securely with FTP, you have to tunnel with ssh. They want a pretty GUI. shrugs shoulders this is what they want to run so this is what i'm going to learn :-) mine is not to question why (i'm not paid enough at this point;)
