After some bad words and nasty admin popup messages, I realized that I needed to use the PS/2 adaptor. It seems fine now. Call company IT support: get same voicemail that is NEVER returned. Call IT Geek significant other: offers quick tip on not mixing NT with USB, then says he can't talk right now, he's having lunch with another girl. I hate to think how much more disappointing this day can become.
