It is the most painful thing I have ever done!!! Both times!!!!!! A friend who has had both children and kidney stones (not neccessarily in that order) assures me the pain level is similar. Except at the end all you have is a bit of crystalised urea+blood. BTW. The hospitals over here are just as good as the public system in eastern Aust. ie: underfunded but clean and competently staffed. Of course the waiting list over here are 20 minutes (no appointment necessary for non-invasive day-surgery such as fatty tissue tumor removal and a LOT cheaper.) Speaking of fatty tissue tumors, I have a nice big scar on my lower back in just the right place to repeat that stupid internet story about accepting a drink in an airport bar and waking up in a bathtub of ice with a kidney missing! Yeah, I know. Bad Bad Baaaad glenalec. I only use that one on Aussies.
