I live in Colorado, the state of the fire.
Sunday (10 days ago), the day the fire started, we came home from church at about 4:30pm with a heavy haze in the air and the sun shining red (had me running to my New Testament to double-check Revelations -- is it the sun or the moon that's supposed to turn to blood?). I've had to drive to work twice since then with a scarf around my face so I can breathe.
Went to the doctor today because of a hacking cough I've had for the past 10 days. She recommended keeping all the windows closed. Yeah. No A/C at home, and I'm not keeping the family closed up inside the house when it's 95°F. And, my car not only has no A/C ($300 just to fix the computer chip that won't let it turn on), but the turn signals are also dead, so I have to keep the window down to signal.
Plus, my wife's brother's family is now on evacuation standby.
So you can imagine how I feel about Ms. Firestarter... |
