I started out on original macOS/apple dos<shrug> Then years later when I could finally get my own machine it happened to have windows on it. Since I'd not used a pc before and everyone talked on how hard *nix was I just tried to learn how to deal with windows. Eventually I built better computers and then switched to duel boot with linux/win9x.
If I have the money and am feeling lazy I will get takeout. Typicaly it's sushi or other japanese food, chinese, or a sub. Most times I cook as I've been cooking since I was 6 and took 4 yrs of it in school.<shrug> Actually often I get nagged to make certain things by my roommate or son as they like what I cook.(chromatix when here seems to quite like my chinese food)
I also have some funky lamps though my kids have swiped them. I have brass lanterns on hangers on either side of my monitor so they give some ambient light. Other candles are about my room as well. I use incense but only milder scents(I like egyptian musk, rain, lavender, and sandlewood) but I don't burn alot as my room is small and also a big cloud of it probably isn't good for my computer.
I don't particulary watch sports. But I do occasionally mountain bike or rollerblade. Often I just walk. I used to swim alot and weight lift though in past. At some point I plan on getting a weights set again so I can do lifting at home.
As said I have a cat but my son has some fish. I like frogs and birds but they are difficult to carefor at times. I think a camelion would be neat but haven't gotten around to finding out what having one would involve. I had a pup as a child but it died when it was hit by a car. I also had a hamster and gerbil. But when they died I never got another rodent. I've also had finches and budgies. My parents had a toy poodle which was irritating and I've had allergy problems with large dogs. I'm allergic to cats but it seems to be a tolerable allergy.<shrug> I've had several cats since age 19(when I moved out of the house)
It depends on the temperature, my arthritis/muscle stuff, and anything I might of been doing that might cause me to bathe more often. Usually I do nothing that gets me that messy so typically I bathe about once every 2-3 days. But if the other things require it I may bathe up to 3x per day.<shrug>
I had to learn some basic stuff in my driving course years ago. I also grew up with a brother that did drag racing at the local drag strip (Mission Raceway) and in Seattle. So I was always around that stuff. I learned to give my car a tune up, spot certain things, etc. I'm not like a major mechanic or anything I just know the basics I need to to have a car run reasonable.
I've never hunted. Though family members did. I grew up fishing and being around boats/water. I probably learned how to gut/clean a fish by the time I was 5. I don't fish as much as I'd like too and haven't in awhile actually but I own one custom fly rod that I inherited when my dad died, and 2 other rods along with some gear. I don't know which little thingamabob works best with whatever fish... I just fish and typically its for rainbow trout.
I have gardened and I think outdoor plants have a better chance against me. My dad was a wonderful hobbist gardner. However I really have a brown thumb and houseplants really don't survive me. Though I can do okish with miniture roses and wildflowers.
I took comp sci in the mid 80's. It was when they first introduced colledge level courses into highschool as electives. Same was done with my catering/food handling course as it was also college level. Cert's were never given though we were graded normally.(though in the case of catering I did get my food handlers certificate at the time). Oddly however I did get certificates for the business courses I took.<shrug>
We had to take some electronics as part of our science in highschool. I however also had to go over electronics stuff again before writing my ham radio license test. As for radio licenses you need to be able to read circuit diagrams, etc of various radios and things. My brother is an electronics engineer and Chromatix is a CSE(comp sci/electronics engineering I think<shrug>) My grandfathers I think were also engineers.<shrug>
I took sewing class however my mom started teaching me to sew when I was in grade 5. I can follow a pattern and if I tried hard I could make my own pattern. Typically though I just follow a pattern but do know how to alter them or just do general mending. It's been awhile since I've done much sewing though. My roommate sews quite well and he's taught his sisters how and my sisters exhusband also sewed well(he also took a course on recovering furnature, etc). |
