my opinion is that he did the best he could with what he had. the script was pretty bad and also you've got to remember that we all have a pre-conceived notion of Darth Vader and Christensen has to show us how Anakin descends the path to the Dark Side, while at the same time being "heroic." I don't think he's got an easy job of it
