The RedHat annoyance thread. by allegory2002-06-19 06:41:03
What about a power supply issue? by allegory 2002-06-19 08:17:46
I was thinking back and about 2.5 weeks ago I added a second dvd drive to the machine which gives me Athlon 1700+, soyo dragon mb, with 1 cdrw, 2 dvd, 1 80Gb hd, geforce 3ti500 and a bunch of extra cards, and 512Mb of pc2700 ddr running at 2100... Could it be that I've overloaded the PS by just a bit causing random problems? Anyone care to give an opinion?

Further notes. It has the same behavior on 2 different kernels 2.4.9-31 and 2.4.18. Both are compiled by me. I redid the 2.4.18 kernel last week just to be sure that wasn't the issue. the 2.4.9-31 has worked for about 5 months with no problems prior to 2 weeks ago. It seems to happen more often when I'm using large amounts of network traffic. (This machine is a NAT box for my LAN. 100mb inside, 512kbps outside) outside is hooked to the nic on the mb, inside to a 3c5xx cyclone card that has worked well for YEARS..
