Cell phone UFie poll. by NOLAWitch2002-06-19 07:46:14
I fought them for a long time... by suzisuzisuzi 2002-06-19 07:55:20
:) Now not sure I could be without one... I don't want to comment on brands and such because I'm just not geeky enough, I haven't bothered to change from my first Nokia one - gadget appeal doesn't really move me with something like this. Things to note about cell phones:

1) just like a real phone, you DO NOT have to answer. I tend to treat my phone like a pager-with-callback-ability and rarely take a call on the cell. Make sure you get caller ID and voicemail so you cna easily do this, or it might become an electronic leash. This is especially important with something you carry around!

2) they are extremely handy any time you'd hunt for a payphone - if you'r lost or stranded. The other use I put mine to is generally organizing my social life - who is where, who is free to do something, where are we going to meet, and then finding people in a crowded public area.

3) fees are interesting - long distance is as cheap as a local call. :) I typically never come close to using up my monthly alotment of minutes, so I make ALL long distance calls with the cell and it actually saves a bit of money there, since I'd pay for both silly phones anyhow!
