| Cigarette butts on your lawn is one thing; butts on the sidewalk where you walk your todlers is worse, but I live on a mountainside in the Oregon forest. When I take my dog out to walk down our country road I find butts in the ditch constantly. This is no fun in winter, but in summer, when the fire danger is EXTREME and I am not even allowed to mow my yard or work in the woods, it is INSANE not to speak of illegal. Now if I start a fire with my weedwhacker, I am liable for up to $100.000.00 in fines, but a smoker who flips his burning butt into a ditch full of dry grass and leaves is only at risk for $500.00 - if they even catch him or bother to write him up!
NO SMOKING where it interferes with the health and rights of others; ABSOLUTELY no smoking in extreme fire danger areas!! |
