Typically thats what I had to drop into my ear as a little girl for earaches and what I was told to give my kids. Though you can get a commercial prep the olive oil that is warm to the touch dripped in works as well if not better.(some sort of anti bacterial properties) But yea it feels gross while you lie on your side a few moments. I've also had my ears sprayed with a syringe when small and that felt worse though. {{{{Nichiran}}}}
