COBOL was considered old even when I took it... But PASCAL and FORTRAN were considered somewhat cool and BASIC well we all just had to take that(same for COBOL... but we were taught some old government, etc machines required COBOL and BASIC at the time). Don't worry we didn't spend a huge amount of time on COBOL however we did on BASIC I think...
