because I need to get to bed (it's almost 11, must go roof a house tomorrow). For the login process: investigate setting up Samba as an NT Domain Controller. If you dig far enough, the documentation's pretty complete. It's in the HTML docs in the Samba source tree somewhere. They provide step-by-step instructions as to how to set up Samba in this manner. But make sure you're running a recent version of Samba - domain controller code doesn't work very well in the early 2.x versions (that I could tell, at least). Changing work group: the workgroup setting in the GLOBAL section of smb.conf. HTH (and sorry it's short, but bed is calling), Mike
